HISTORY

The North Davidson High School Air Force Junior ROTC (AFJROTC), Unit NC-951, was established in August of 1995. It is the only Air Force JROTC unit in Davidson County. The program has 155 cadets enrolled during the 2015-2016 school year.

NOTABLE ACHIEVEMENTS

NC-951 was awarded the Air Force JROTC Distinguished Unit Award with Merit for the school years 2010-2011, 2011-2012 and 2013-2014. The highest rating possible. Beginning the 2013-2014 year, this award can only be achieved the year the unit is formally inspected by the USAF. This occurs every 3 three years. During the out years the highest award achievable is the Distinguished Unit Award.


NC-951 was awarded the Air Force JROTC Distinguished Unit Award for the school years 03-04, 06-07, 09-10,12-13,14/15 and 15/16.

Our AFJROTC program has had two cadets receive an Air Force Academy appointment, class of 2015, in 2011 and class of 2020 in 2016.

Our AFJROTC program had its first cadet receive an appointment to the Naval Academy prep school and the U.S. Naval Academy class of 2018, in 2012-2013.

Our Academic Bowl Team finished 7th in the College Options Foundation, National AFJROTC Academic Bowl, Bowling AFB, Washington D.C., April 2010. The competition began with 130 highschool AFJROTC's from around the United States.


Our Academic Bowl Team finished 13th in the College Options Foundation, National AFJROTC Academic Bowl, George Mason University, Washington D.C., June 2013. The competition began with 260 highschool AFJROTC's from around the United States.

The cadet corps achieved 2000 hours of community service during the school year 2014-2015.

NC-951 cadets have been awarded 9 Air Force college ROTC full scholarships and 3 Academy appointments since its inception.
