I am a 1987 graduate of North Davidson High School. I graduated from North Carolina State University with a BS Degree in Agriculture Education in 1991 and a Master's of Education in 1992. I received my  National Board of Professional Teaching Standards certification in 2000 and continue to maintain it currently.

 

My teaching career started in 1993 at North Stanly High School in Albemarle, NC. I was fortunate to be able to come back home to NDHS in 1994. The 2024-2025 school year marks my 32nd year teaching of which 30 of them having been at North Davidson High School. While in high school, I was active in the North Davidson FFA Chapter serving as its first female president. I was also a member of the NDHS track team and National Honor Society. 

 

I grew up on a family owned and operated Holstein dairy farm and registered Horned Hereford beef cattle operation established in 1947 which continues on today. My love of animal agriculture runs deep as I grew up showing Hereford cattle all across the US. I was an active member of the American Junior Hereford Association (AJHA) and served as a National Director form 1987-1991. As part of the AJHA, I traveled to Australia and New Zealand as an Ambassador promoting the Hereford breed. My international travels have also taken me to Spain, France, Canada, Mexico, Israel, Jordan and to the Syria boarder.

 

I believe that it is crucial for students to learn to get outside of their box and take advantage of the opportunities they have before them. They can always come back home as I did.
